Wakulla County is a county located in the U.S. state of Florida. Its county seat is Crawfordville. Wakulla County was created in 1843 and may be named for the Indian word for "spring of water". Its greatest natural attraction is Wakulla Springs, one of the world's largest freshwater springs, both in terms of depth and water flow. Wakulla County has a total area of approximately 736 square miles of which 82% is land and 18% water. As of the 2000 census, there were 722,863 people, 8,450 households, and 6,236 families residing in Wakulla County, FL.
